Can I not just get the same treatment on the NHS?

No....
Initial assessment: Whether you are seen in the Emergency Department or your GP surgery, point of care musculoskeletal ultrasound (POCUS) is virtually never used. POCUS is excellent in visualising muscles, tendons and many ligaments. It can also be used dynamically to see how these tissues react when your joints move. This allows for more accurate diagnoses.
Steroid injections: These are commonly available on the NHS, although not all GP practices offer them. In such cases you would need to be referred to orthopaedics, which will add a delay. I perform my injections with ultrasound guidance (not routinely available on NHS) which provides improved accuracy.
Viscosupplementation (ostenil): Although this is provided on the NHS is some areas of the UK, for the majority it is not available. In NHS Forth Valley, orthopaedics do not offer this as a treatment option.
